Overview

11+ testing is currently carried out in September of Year 6 - their final year of primary school. We recommend your child starting their preparation journey well in advance of this so we can ensure they have the depth and range of subject knowledge needed to make a good attempt at the tests.

Our Term Time Weekly Classes

Most children join us at the start of year 5 and stay until their test early in year 6. We also run a small number of year 4 classes that open in January for those that want to get an early start.

Our classes run each week during term time for one hour covering a curriculum of Maths, English and Reasoning. Each session costs £20 which covers all class resources and a weekly homework pack.

Homework is an important part of their tuition as it consolidates learning and allows us to check understanding. Each week we mark and work through the homework checking for understanding and correcting errors.

Children can join a class at anytime, subject to a place being available.

Our School Holiday Workshops

Workshops are 3 hours long and run during the Easter and Summer holidays (August only). Students attend once a week to cover Maths, English and Reasoning topics.

11+ Assessment Tests

In the Easter holidays we run a set of 11+ Assessment Tests for our Year 5 students. This is an opportunity to formally assess how your child is getting on and gives us an indication of their potential to pass the 11+ tests later in the year.

The Assessment Tests are a series of 3 exams in Maths, English and Reasoning. They give the children their first experience of the format and content of the 11+ tests themselves.

We mark and grade their efforts to give you and your child an accurate picture of where they are currently working, helping parents make an informed decision regarding next steps..

11+ Practice (Mock) Tests

Practice tests (mocks) are held during August and at the start of year 6. Practice tests are an important part of your child’s preparation as they continue to ensure that they are familiar with the test structure and likely content. They are also key to developing good timing and test skills.
